About the Artist
Biography
Ars Photographica is the creative playground of Martin Splitt, a Zurich-based photographer dedicated to capturing the light of this world. Working with analog and digital photography, the work explores themes of space, life, and the subtle textures of light.
Rather than documenting reality, the goal is to distill the sensory experience of a moment into a physical print that invites quiet contemplation.

The Art of Printmaking
Every photograph presented in the portfolio is printed directly by the artist in their studio. The entire process is part of the art for me—from taking the picture to printing in the darkroom or making a zine, the art is the entirety of it.
Experimentation and Joy
The whole journey from the thought of capturing a moment all the way to printing in the darkroom or folding a zine is full of joy and experimentation. Trying new processes, different chemicals, or an unusual approach to things, it's all part of my art.
Awards & Exhibitions
For me, the ultimate destination of a photograph is the printed page or the gallery wall. While I am actively preparing future solo and group exhibitions in Zurich to showcase my physical darkroom prints, my work has also been recognized in several prestigious international photography contests. These accolades validate the constant experimentation with light, texture, and physical form that defines my photographic journey.
