About the Artist

Biography

Ars Photographica is the creative vision of a Zurich-based landscape and architectural photographer dedicated to capturing the quiet essence of natural and built environments. Focusing on medium format analog and high-resolution digital capture, the work explores themes of space, solitude, and the subtle textures of light.

Rather than documenting reality, the goal is to distill the sensory experience of a place into a physical print that invites quiet contemplation. The work is characterized by strong compositions, minimalist structures, and a rich tonal palette ranging from deep ink blacks to soft charcoal mists.

“A photograph is not fully realized until it is rendered as a physical print. The choice of paper, the texture of the cotton fibers, and the weight of the ink are as integral to the artwork as the light that fell upon the lens.”

The Art of Printmaking

Every photograph presented in the portfolio is printed directly by the artist in the Zurich studio. By maintaining absolute control over the entire pipeline—from capture and drum-scanning of negatives to color profiling and final output—we ensure the highest museum-grade quality.

Materials & Quality Standards

  • Paper: We exclusively use premium, archival-grade fine art papers, primarily Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308gsm (100% cotton rag) and Canson Infinity Baryta Prestige. These papers offer exceptional depth, D-max (density of black), and a tactile surface texture that complements the photographic detail.
  • Inks: Utilizing professional-grade Epson UltraChrome PRO pigment inks, offering longevity ratings exceeding 100 years under normal gallery conditions.
  • Editions: All portfolio prints are produced in strictly limited, numbered editions. Once an edition is sold out, it will not be printed again in that size or format. Each print is signed on the front or reverse and includes a holographic certificate of authenticity.
